Raise Your Wand is a fast paced wizard dualing game created for the Minigame a Month May jam.

Video tutorial: How to play Raise Your Wand

READ ME: As I have not had time to add a tutorial yet, reading the instructions below is very important

  • Difficulty - Difficulty is selected through the settings menu. It is highly recommended that beginners start on easy or normal, as hard and gamer difficulties have features that make learning more difficult.
    • Easy - The enemy wizard has slow casting times, often messes up their spells, and does not have very high level of spells. Includes the standard cast indicator.
    • Normal - The enemy wizard has a bit faster of a casting time, and does not mess up spells as often. Spell levels are a bit higher than easy difficulty. Includes the standard cast indicator.
    • Hard - The enemy wizard casts spells quickly, and almost never messes up a cast. Spells are a high level. Includes a reduced cast indicator.
    • Gamer - Basically impossible. The enemy wizard has insanely fast cast times, does not mess up spells, and has high level spell casting. Cast indicator is removed entirely. Best have your spells memorised.
  • Spell Selection - Upon hitting play, you will be taken to a spell selection screen. The top right shows your spell library, with the bottom right showing your selected spells. Clicking on a spell icon will show details on the left side of the screen. Once you have your spells selected, you can click 'Continue' in the bottom right.
    • Spells come in different rarities indicating their cast difficulty. Commons are easy to cast, but are not very powerful, while legendaries are incredibly powerful, but are much longer and more difficult casts.
    • The stats screen of spells will indicate how much damage of a certain element that spell can block. Shielding spells usually have high values for this, but some offensive spells have them as well. Try to time your casts to minimize your incoming damage.
  • Combat - You can see your spells and their cooldowns in the bottom left of the screen. To begin casting, press one of the number keys, 1 through 5. You will begin casting the selected spell and a cast indicator will appear at the top of the screen. Using the arrow keys, press the indicated combinations to successfully cast the spell. Be careful not to input an incorrect spell or take too long to cast, as the cast will fail and you will take damage from it backfiring.
  • Round Completion - Rounds are completed by reducing a wizard's health to zero. If you win, you will unlock a new spell to add to your library.

Note: If you play on the web version, some options will be disabled, like the quit button and the window mode option in the settings
